Shayas Pumpkins

The building of the old Children’s Home at Kibbutz Eilon does not give as much as a clue about the wonder it holds within its walls: rows of pumpkins that, like Cinderella’s carriage, were also injected with life. The magician in this case is Yishayahu (Shaya) Oren, blessed be his memory. The enchanted collection was named ‘Shaya’s Pumpkins’ and is managed by Dan and Ra’aya, Shaya’s son and daughter in-law. Upon arrival, one of these two will also tell visitors the story of the place (and no less fascinating, Shaya’s own history strongly bonded with the history of people in this country. Recommended).
