Betzet Beach – the northern most public beach in Israel – is also one of its most beautiful beaches. Even though it is an authorized beach, offering rescue services, restrooms, bathrooms and even a snack bar, the beach gives bathers and travelers the sensation of a wild, pristine seashore. The unique sand, that can be found only in this area, and the proximity to Rosh Hanikrah turn this beach not only into a bathing site but also into a magnificent scenic spot. Only the navy vessels, constantly patrolling the water opposite the beach, serve as a reminder that, after all, this is the northern border of the state of Israel …

Those who wish to get away from the commotion of other bathers can proceed south to an area forbidden for swimming, and also defined as a military zone. In this area one can walk along the seashore on a very clean strip of beach, a fact that suggests that not too many travelers and bathers frequent this place.

The roadway entering the beach passes by a small industrial zone, which quickly enough makes way to a large picnic parking area comprising plenty of tables. For people desiring a meal after their dip in the sea- this could be an ideal spot. A short drive past the parking area leads to the beach, entrance is free of charge.

Getting There

Driving on road 4, a few dozen meters south of Betzet turn west towards the sea (follow the signs to Betzet Beach). Immediately after the right turn, turn right again and continue straight until the beach (unless you wish to stop off on the way at the picnic parking area).
