Yotam Dahan- Educator and Tour Guide

Yotam one of the first children to have been born in Klil, leads a tour familiarizing travelers with the ecological community of Klil; its various styles of dwelling: Mongol Yurts, Indian Tents and ecological construction, as well as the interesting population that lives here.
During the tour participants meet with local artists and manufacturers. The tour begins in the large tent of Café Klil, where one can enjoy hot beverages and a unique atmosphere. After an introductory meeting, participants embark on a three hour tour involving a little walking, observation points (among others of the Yechiam River), an encounter with the ‘Mother Orchard’ project, an educational ecological project somewhat like a botanical garden of plants of the Land of Israel. The project, headed by Dr. Irit Schreier, was initiated after the great fire that occurred in Klil in 1988 consuming almost all the vegetation in the community. The need to rehabilitate the vegetation and the grove gave birth to this project which participants are being introduced to.
Participants are also introduced to the Grey Water Recycling process, the various kindergartens, and through them to the development of the community established here in 1978 by a group of Jerusalem residents. In the course of the tour Yotam relays Klil’s story and reads poems written by Klil poets writing about the community of Klil.
After visiting the homes of artists, local manufacturers of honey, bread and wine, participants are invited to take part in experience yielding workshops of card-reading and Indian culture.
In family tours, Yotam incorporates Pitta baking, picking edible plants during winter, cooking vegetables on a Saj, preparing tea from herbs that grow in nature; and introduces travelers to his own life story as a Klil born child, who left the village and came back to raise his children here.
Other tours that visitors can experience with Yotam are a tour of – the crevices of Rosh Hanikra and the coastline, the Keshet (arc) Cave and the Orchards Road at Adamit Park, the rivers of the Galilee; as well as tours introducing participants to the Druze population of the Beit Jan and Hurfeish villages, a trip to the Ga’aton Ruins and springs, a quaint tour of old Acre including getting acquainted with some hidden places and projects. Also available are tours exposing visitors to cultures and religions during different seasons and holidays, tours designed for encounters with Galilee people, and days of fun, team-forging and education.
