Amir Gazit- Tour Guide and Business Consultant

During our conversation-Amir Gazit- a tour guide from Mitzpe Hila- changed several professional hats: “as a tour guide, I believe that our area clearly needs a systemic approach. There must be collaboration between the attractions working with tour guides: Guest rooms, ceramics, clothes, unique tours, wineries, etc.” Amir, who also deals with the marketing of tour sites and provides consultation and escort to young tour businesses, carefully considers each topic from a number of angles, and thus, alongside providing great added value to his groups, he lives up to his own vision in practice each and every day.

Amir – holds a bachelor’s degree in the Studies of the Land of Israel and General History and a master’s degree in Business Administration – and is a certified tour guide who has been involved in the business of tourism since he left his Kibbutz, Kfar HaNasie, more than two decades ago. Over the years he guided and directed programs of youth from overseas, was involved in projects such as the “March of Life” and for nine years acted as marketing manager to the North region of Israel on behalf of the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel.

Amir: “as a tour guide I focus on less conventional tours, such as Nazareth during Christmas, wine tours, security related tours, tours to areas in bloom, and so on”. Security Related Tours? We were also perplexed; so we inquired. “Security Related Tours are usually requested by groups from overseas, and therefore are held in English. These tours follow the Rosh-Hanikrah Metulah line and are usually conducted in private vehicles and occasionally by buss. During the tour I relay the story of the Protective Fence, the pillboxes, the Tygart forts, the Northern border and all they entail.”

What about disabled people? “No problem. It all begins and ends with service awareness.”
Apparently, Amir, the tour guide, business consultant, tutor and even a tourist from time to time – knows what he is talking about. We take our hats of for him. And why not?
