The name ‘Hanahariyanim’ may have no meaning for you. It is possible that you have never heard of this group of 18 male and female amateur singers, who live throughout the Western Galilee, and meet regularly in order to sing and perform. Nevertheless, listening to the highly inspiring, rich tonal interpretations of this singing-group is heart captivating.
The Singing Group was established 40 years ago. Over the years the group’s members grew-up, had children, even grandchildren. They traveled and performed in many concerts and conventions around the world as well as in Israel. The Nahariyanim’s home auditorium is Nahariya’s Cultural Center. Here they perform regularly once every two months, usually featuring a guest singer, sometimes even a whole choir. The group’s repertoire is changed entirely from one performance to the next, each consisting of 4-5 songs performed by the group, as well as other songs performed with participation of the audience, accompanied by slides projected on a large screen. The group also hosts guest performers such as Shimmy Tavori, Ophira Gluska, Ephraim Shamir and others.
Each performance lasts about an hour, and during the break guests are welcome to enjoy food made by group members.
The group’s bi-monthly performances are frequented by a loyal audience of Nahariya residents as well as other people from the diversified Galilee population, who purchase subscribers cards for the whole season. It is surprising to see how much love and warmth the fans have for the singing group singers appearing before them time and again.
