Cabrit Farm

We mounted our patient horses at noon of a summer’s day; not an ideal time to begin a 90 minute ride on horseback. I looked at my young kids with their helmets on, solemn and excited, and at our guide, Shahar, who addressed them professionally yet with empathy, and hoped for good things…

And good they were. We promptly left the stalls located adjacent to Kibbutz Cabri’s North-Eastern fence, and rode through the uncultivated land that quickly turned into pine and eucalyptus tree groves. The silence, the bird sounds, the tree shade that touched us more often than the rays of the sun did – all these turned the slow and confident gate of the horses into a magical journey in a countryside not frequented by the multitude.

They have character, the horses of Cabrit Farm. Their comfortable natural life in an area spanning 500 Dunams (~123 acre) of grazing grounds makes them peaceful, calm animals that pace the countryside as if it were their own territory; and disciplined horses are best for a pleasant ride. During the ride we heard many explanations about our surroundings from our guide, who rode in the lead, in part for the purpose of opening a cattle fence here and there. We learned to recognize birds, search with our eyes for mammals endemic to the area and for signs on our path.

And thus the circular-trail lead us to the stage where we turned our back to the forest and headed towards the west – where the magnificent landscapes of the ocean and Rosh Hanikrah ridge awaited us. Cool wind blew and tapered the heat of the sunrays, and by the time we reached the end of our journey safe and sound – we wanted more!

An English style riding school is operated on the premises, including Dressage and Show Jumping, open for all ages and all riding levels. Get familiar with the world of horses, a magnificent and loyal animal. Another area addressed at Cabrit Farm is Therapeutic Riding suitable for various populations and designed to improve riders’ functional and cognitive levels.
