(Fruit Scent (Nihoah Hapri

The first thing that catches the eye upon entering the very green garden known as ‘Fruit Scent’ are the tall beautiful wooden chalets scattered around the premises. Another look reveals details such as the bird-of-paradise plant hinting to the vacation in store, a small playground indicating the treatment awaiting the little guests in the group and a large willow tree bestowing a welcoming, home feeling.

The area itself is surrounded by endless fruit orchards, such as: citrus, avocado, persimmon, lychee and pomegranate. Ilana welcomes her guests by the cabins. Originally from Kibbutz Ein Hashofet, she and her Nahalal born husband Micha arrived in Moshav Ben Ami 20 years ago, in pursuit of Micha’s dream to procure a farm and become a farmer. Seven years later they realized another dram and turned the premises into its current designation. Since her retirement from teaching, Ilana’s main occupation is tending to the cabins. Micha takes care of the agricultural farm as well.

The chalets named Orange, Avocado, Pomegranate and Fig, were planned and designed by the two of them. One of the cabins is completely adapted to the needs of the disabled. Contrary to ordinary cabins, the Fruit Scent units are tall two-story structures featuring: a first floor with a spacious couple’s bedroom, a living room, a bathroom and an accessorized kitchen offering complete cooking facilities (as well as a built outdoors grill). The gallery features three beds and a window with a view to the Galilee; a ‘little house in the prairie’ look-alike with standard stairs.

Our impression was that at the Fruit Scent resort children’s needs are respected. From the playground in the yard to the spacious units, one can safely say that children are not a burden here but rather guests for all intents and purposes.

Fruit Scent’s famous breakfasts are served in a rustic dining room, adorned with Micha’s paintings. In spite of the additional fee, many returning guests impatiently wait for the sun to come up. Having satisfied their appetites, guests return to their cabins. The day quickly passes by and towards the evening they will find that the cabins are all facing towards the ‘Mecca’ of vacationers: the sunset. Guests are welcome to enjoy the adjacent pool at Kibbutz Cabri for a discounted entrance fee.
