“Moshav [agricultural settlement] means freedom”, says Yossi Tenenboim of Bustan Hagalil, resetting his cowboy hat on his head. He extends his arm in a wide gesture and shows me where, at the end of his estate, the open landscape actually begins; and I, discovering the Rosh Hanikrah ridge on the horizon, node in agreement feeling more than a tad jealous.
Yossi’s three beautiful cabins, set against a tall wall of flora that imparts them with the required privacy, face the open landscapes of the North. Each cabin has an adjacent parking space in the back. The passageways connecting the cabins imply that here, opposite the patch of lawn opening towards the flat landscape of a field of winter crops, three families and their children will find the ideal vacation.
Each cabin has a sitting area, a dining corner, an accessorized kitchenette, a bedroom with a double bed, a shower and bathroom, a Jacuzzi for two, an attic containing sleeping arrangements, a television and an audio system.
Guests who choose to stay here, at the heart of the settlement and not far from the wild coastline, are urged to visit the “Natural spirit Gallery” hidden on the other side of the “green wall”. Here they will find a warehouse successfully turned into a surprisingly elegant gallery, concealing Yossi’s unique collection of sculptures. The works combine branches and rocks from Yossi’s many trips in nature, with metal; all used by Yossi to create particularly original sculptures: “I fulfill the dream of the raw material and sculpture it into what it would have liked to be”, he explains and points to the head of a camel chewing what used to be a burned branch in a Lag Ba’Omer (Jewish Holiday) bonfire.
