The Hebrew month of Elul is the month of Lamentations, which is abundant with mystical and religious significance, and invites the individual to an accounting between himself and God and between himself and his fellow man. In Pekiin in the Western Galilee, which carries a historical heritage of thousands of years, in which members of four religions live in harmony – Jews, Christians, Muslims and Druze – you are invited to a tour of prayers, ancient stories and an introduction to the joint traditions of all the religions. In order to experience the special atmosphere of Lamentations in this picturesque village, there is a joint philanthropic project between “Treasures of the Galilee” and “Zinati House” – the Centre for Heritage of the Jews of Pekiin, pf the Zionist Council – dramatized, experiential Lamentations tours at night suitable for all the family, accompanied by oil lamps.
