A short while after exiting Nahariya, where road signs point westward towards Shavei Zion, embark on a journey of about 550 yards beginning in the plowed fields whose lumps still bear the memory of a palm avenue that once stood here; continue on the bridge curling like a cat over the railway tracks, ending in a road crossing the flat planed settlement and flowing onto one of the nicest beaches in Israel.
There, between the fields and the ocean, shaded by the trees that have seen it all, you will find Rani Geffen’s bicycle store and repair shop – RunOFun.
מNahariya born Rani is a member of Kibbutz Matzuba, where he lives with his wife Karin and their three children.
Rani established RanOFun in 2004, after many years of employment in a national bicycle store; “when we returned from the trip we took around the world after we got married, I decided to start a business that will be mine from A to Z.” He explains.
Immediately after entering the air-conditioned store, you will realize that this rustic place is equipped with leading state of the art gear: “I travel to exhibitions in Germany and Taiwan every year. In order to keep current in the field I must order models in advance according to specifications of bicycles that haven’t been released to the market yet.”
RanOFun’s second store is located on the Miilya-Ma’alot road. Rani says that before he decided on the location of this store he opened up a map and looked for a place that would be accessible to the local population. “Close, yet outside the city limits, so that customers can drive up to the entrance of the store and have a meaningful trial run on the bicycle before purchasing it”.
In addition to bicycles we all know, RunOFun offers bicycles especially geared for infants and children to acquire stability, as well as cycling clothing and other riding gear for amateurs and professionals. If you wish, Rani will refer you to bicycle group tour instructors. “Weekend Warriors”, as Rani calls them, will find here a place for recommendations of local extreme routes.
Customers can rent Bicycles and join a guided group tour.
