The Shvil Kitchen – an Authentic Druze Restaurant, Pekiin

Alongside a path leading from the centre of Pekiin to the ancient synagogue and the Zinati House, you will find a family restaurant serving homemade authentic Druze food on a beautiful and spacious terrace surrounding by plants and shaded by a vine pergola.

Amira’s kitchen is sparkling and gleaming from cleanliness and the guests are invited to enter it and take a look at the pots and pans. Amira and Eyal will serve you pita with labaneh but also homemade food, grilled meats and seasonal salads with wild greens. The menu is very diverse and changes with the seasons.

The couple, Amira and Eyal Amar, receive their guests with a warm welcome and with heart warming generosity. Eyal is in charge of hosting and Amira is responsible for the cooking and whatever she promises she also fulfils: the food served to the guests is identical to the food that she cooks in her own private kitchen for her family when she herself prepares the spices that she uses in her dishes.

Amira’s kitchen is sparkling and gleaming from cleanliness and the guests are invited to enter and take a look at the pots and pans.

Amira and Eyal will serve you pita with labaneh but also homemade food, grilled meats and seasonal salads with wild greens.

The menu is very diverse and changes with the seasons:

The meal always opens with ten types of salads and Druze pita which has just come out of the oven, together with a carafe of cool lemonade (you may order soft drinks). The main courses are served generously so you can share every dish between several people and includes: veal or lamb mansaf, wonderful mejadera, stuffed vine leaves with or without meat, shulvato which is a Druze dish comprised of cracked wheat and chickpeas (ideal for vegans), sinya, kubeh and homemade kebab.

The children are also not deprived here: the Shvil restaurant takes care of them with children’s meals including schnitzel, chips and salad.

At the end of the meal according to the best hosting traditions of the Druze the guests are served strong black coffee and baklava on the house.

The restaurant serves a Druze breakfast with homemade cheeses.
